ENSEMBLE VIVANT has been invited to perform as part of the Open House Ceremonies of the McMaster Institute for Music and the Mind: the LIVE Lab, at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
This prestigious event will be held from 12:00 – 3:00 pm on September 27, 2014 at McMaster University’s Department of Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour, 1280 Main Street West, Hamilton, Ontario. The Open House is free to the Ensemble Vivant will perform from 12:00 noon until 12:50 pm. During this performance, Dr. Laurel Trainor, founding director of the LIVE Lab, will speak with Catherine Wilson, pianist of Ensemble Vivant on stage. The distinguished artists of Ensemble Vivant include:

The LIVE Lab (Large Interactive Virtual Environment) Auditory Lab, part of McMaster’s Institute for Music and the Mind (MIMM), is unique among research-based performance theatre and testing centres in the world, and new groundbreaking neuroscientific studies in The LIVE Lab will be aimed, among other things, at understanding neuroscientifically how performers interact, what moves audiences during a performance, and the social and emotional impact of these experiences. Knowledge from experiments in the LIVE Lab will be transformative.
